I Live Life to the Fullest by Tina Gentile

I feel like living life to the fullest is something that is constantly changing within yourself. One day you could decide that going to the gym and becoming healthier will help you live life to the fullest. Other times it might mean reaching out to the community or doing a good deed for someone else. I feel that waking up everyday and realizing you are still alive and important is a good way to live each day to its ultimate good. Life is a lot shorter than most people realize, and it is only until reality hits you that you realize you need to be a better person everyday. Reality can be something small like a car breaking down, or something bigger for example a break up or the loss of a loved one. It is in those moments that you realize that life is so much bigger than the little things you used to stress over. There are so many opportunities and gifts that life has to offer other than what was left behind you in the past. Most importantly, it is not healthy to hold on to anger, always be in a rush, or feel like everyone is out to get you. At one moment, when something BIG happens in your life, you will realize that you have the power over every situation that approaches you. You are the most important person in your life, and your reaction to a situation will affect the outcome of the situation at hand. At some moment everyone has to realize that they are in control of their own happiness.

Another aspect of living life to the fullest is change. You as a person constantly change, and so does the world around you. Change is good, change is healthy, and change can help to see the world in a different perspective than before. At times it may seem like an inconvenience is occurring, but you must remember that nothing good comes without a struggle. Everything in life is a big test that must be overcome, and the toughest battles are always worth it. You must also always remember that you get what you give. In return for being a good friend, a good person, or being optimistic and happy, life will return the favor to you. There will always be something bigger that awaits you, even when you may feel like there is nothing left to hold on to. Instead of always being someone who stands in the background, be someone who stands up. Be there for someone else out of the goodness of your heart, and never regret or feel scared to be the outlier. If you try to better yourself everyday, your life will be lived to the fullest and I promise you that. The reward is always worth the battles, and when you can look back and say “I made it”, it will all have been worth it. If someone one day thanks you for just being you, it will haven been worth it. Challenge and motivate yourself and others around you to do better and be better. Every day is always worth it and so are you.

I personally had to live life to the fullest when my mom passed away 2 years ago. It was one of those moments when I had to re-evaluate everything I was doing to make sure that I was making myself happy. The situation taught me to be there for others more and to say I love you more often. It pushed me to grow and become a stronger woman. I ran for president of my sorority, Alpha Sigma Alpha, and continued to excel in school, study abroad, and do all the things I always wished I had or thought I would never do. During these two years I accomplished so much, and even graduated college as the first generation in my family to do so. I learned how to turn a tragedy into something that helped me excel everyday. I continue to encourage others to do the same, and know that living life to the fullest everyday will make you happy.
